Fiber Optic Technician – $1,600–2,100 / per week

Fiber is where the industry is investing, and fiber work orders carry the highest point values on our rate card. You install fiber-to-the-home drops, activate ONTs, and support splicing crews on new builds. Coax techs who cross-train into fiber typically add $200–300 to their weekly checks within a quarter.

What you will do

  • Install FTTH drops from the distribution point to the home
  • Mount and activate ONTs; verify optical light levels with a power meter
  • Prepare and route fiber inside the home with proper bend radius
  • Support splicing crews on new construction segments
  • Troubleshoot no-light and degraded-signal calls

Requirements

  • 6+ months in cable/fiber/telecom field work, or TreeTech coax track completed
  • Driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Precision and patience – fiber punishes sloppy work
  • Authorization to work in the US

Can I work without fluent English?

Yes. TreeTech supervisors and mentors speak English, Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian and Polish. You need basic phrases for customers at the door – we give you a phrase card and it comes quickly on the job.

Do I need experience to start?

No. The Installer Helper track starts with ~10 days of paid training with a mentor, and most helpers get their own route within a month. If you already have cable, fiber or electrical experience, you skip ahead after a field assessment and start at a higher rate.

What documents do I need?

Authorization to work in the US: an EAD card, Green Card or citizenship. TreeTech is an E-Verify employer. You will also need a driver’s license – if you only have a learner’s permit, talk to the recruiter about options.

How is the pay calculated?

Piece-rate: every work order type has a published point value, and your weekly check is the sum of completed points. You see the rate card before you sign, and every order is visible in the field app – so the math is always checkable.

Right now – 12 states: Tennessee, Ohio, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Alabama and Michigan. We help with relocation between our states, and the Travel Tech track works across all of them at once.
